Ryaltris® nasal spray

This product is manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Canada Inc. and is a combination of two ingredients, mometasone furoate and olopatadine.

This product is taken via nasal inhalation.

Why is it prescribed?

Ryaltris® is meant to be used to treat symptoms of moderate to severe seasonal allergic rhinitis (runny nose from allergies or hay fever) and related eye symptoms in adults, adolescents and children 6 years of age and older.

Ryaltris® is intended for use as a nasal spray only. Do not spray in the eyes or mouth.

Carefully follow the directions that come with the nasal spray.  Shake well before use.

This medication will start working within 15 minutes but you will get the best results by using it regularly, twice daily.

If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the regularly scheduled time. Do not take a double dose.

Store at room temperature, protected from light.  Do not use after 2 months of first opening.

The recommended dosage:

  • Children 6-11 years of age - 1 spray in each nostril twice daily
  • Ages 12 years of age and up - 2 sprays in each nostril twice daily

Ryaltris® contains 2 ingredients. One is an antihistamine that works against the allergy causing the runny nose.  The other works against the inflammation in the nasal passages caused by the allergy.


Possible side effects include:

  • nose bleeds
  • nasal discomfort
  • drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness
  • changes in vision. This could be serious so consult your health care provider right away.
  • slower growth in children - this should be monitored by your health care provider

Do not use Ryaltris® 

  • if you are allergic to any ingredients in this product
  • if you have an untreated fungal, bacterial, or tuberculosis infection of the respiratory tract (lungs, sinuses, nose). Green or yellow discharge from the nose may be a sign of this
  • if you have had recent nose or sinus surgery or injury

 Consult your health care provider if you:

  • have been in contact with someone with chicken pox or measles
  • have cataracts or glaucoma
  • have liver or thyroid problems

Drug interactions:

  • Ketoconazole or itraconazole
  • Ritonavir, cobicistat-containing products, atazanavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, or saquinavir
  • Clarithromycin
  • Alcohol or other medications that may cause you to feel drowsy in combination with Ryaltris® 

Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding: Since this is a new medication, effects are not known.  Avoid use.
