Recent Cannabis Statistics in Canada

According to the 2023 Canadian Cannabis Survey, 26% of Canadians aged 16 years and older reported using cannabis in the past year. Cannabis use is highest among young adults, with 43% of those aged 20–24 and 37% of those aged 16–19 reporting use in the past 12 months.

The 2021–2022 Canadian Student Alcohol and Drugs Survey also found that 18% of students in Grades 7–12 had used cannabis in the past year.

Key message:

More than half (57%) of people who used cannabis in the past year reported using it three days per month or less, while 15% reported daily use.
