Lung Saskatchewan Staff and Research Leader Recognized with National Awards

Lung Saskatchewan is proud to celebrate two leaders in respiratory health who have been recognized nationally for their contributions to patient care, research, and professional leadership.

Jaimie Peters Receives CRHP Distinction Award
Jaimie Peters, RN, BSN, MN, CRE, has been awarded the Canadian Respiratory Health Professionals (CRHP) Distinction Award. This award recognizes a respiratory healthcare professional who is actively engaged in mentorship and demonstrates professionalism and volunteerism, with significant contributions to respiratory care over at least five consecutive years.

Jaimie’s nomination highlighted her work in mentorship, leadership, and knowledge translation through her role at Lung Saskatchewan. As the clinical expert on the Lung Helpline, she provides evidence-based support to individuals living with asthma, COPD, sleep apnea, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, and other respiratory conditions.

Her work includes leadership in the Saskatchewan Aids to Independent Living (SAIL) Home Oxygen Tester Training Program, helping support consistent and accurate oxygen testing across the province. She also contributes to Lung Saskatchewan’s Communities of Support and collaborates with the Saskatchewan Health Authority on the provincial COPD pathway.

Jaimie has also supported nursing students as a clinical instructor with the University of Saskatchewan College of Nursing, contributing to the development of clinical skills, patient education, and respiratory assessment.

Dr. Donald Cockcroft Receives CTS Distinguished Achievement Award
Dr. Donald W. Cockcroft has been recognized with the Canadian Thoracic Society (CTS) Distinguished Achievement Award, which celebrates individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service in advancing respiratory health.

A respected researcher and clinician, Dr. Cockcroft has made significant contributions to the field of respirology in Saskatchewan and beyond. His work has supported innovation, collaboration, and progress in lung health, while inspiring colleagues and advancing the mission of the CTS.

Lung Saskatchewan is grateful for the leadership and dedication of both Jaimie Peters and Dr. Cockcroft. Their contributions continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients and in the advancement of respiratory care across Canada.
