Lung Saskatchewan Marks 115 Years of Improving Lung Health Across the Province

Submitted by sdriedger on 17 February 2026

Lung Saskatchewan is celebrating its 115th anniversary on February 17, marking more than a century of improving lung health across the province. The organization began in 1911 as the Saskatchewan Anti-Tuberculosis League and has grown to meet the changing lung health needs of Saskatchewan communities. With asthma, COPD, lung cancer, and other lung diseases affecting thousands, the organization’s mission has never been more critical.

How Lung Saskatchewan Supports Lung Health Today

Lung Saskatchewan improves lung health through education, advocacy, and research. The organization provides information about lung diseases and risks to lung health, supports research happening in Saskatchewan, and advocates for policies that improve respiratory care. Lung Saskatchewan also supports individuals and families on their lung health journey.

“Lung Saskatchewan has a long history of helping people across the province breathe easier,” said Erin Kuan, President and CEO of Lung Saskatchewan. “As we celebrate 115 years, we are focused on building the next legacy of lung health in Saskatchewan. We are committed to remaining a leader in lung health and continuing to deliver trusted programs and services for years to come.”

For many Saskatchewan residents, Lung Saskatchewan’s work has had a direct and lasting impact.

“I personally have experienced incredible support and assistance from Lung Saskatchewan, which has not only extended my life but improved my quality of life,” said Dale Roach, COPD patient and Lung Saskatchewan Ambassador. “Education is key. No one does respiratory and lung health education better than Lung Saskatchewan.”

One of Saskatchewan’s lung health experts highlights the ongoing impact of Lung Saskatchewan’s work. “Lung Saskatchewan has played a foundational role in strengthening lung health across Saskatchewan. Their patient-focused approach helps people understand their respiratory conditions, access support earlier, and feel less alone in what can be an overwhelming health journey. Respiratory illness remains one of the most common health challenges in the province, and Lung Saskatchewan continues to provide the education, support, and resources that help people breathe easier,” said Donna Goodridge, Professor Emerita, University of Saskatchewan.

'115 for 115’ Campaign

To mark the milestone, Lung Saskatchewan has launched the '115 for 115' campaign, inviting 115 people to become monthly donors by giving $15 per month or by making a one-time gift of $115. Donations support lung health programs, services, education, advocacy, and research across Saskatchewan.
