Ellipta®

Why is it prescribed?

  • Anoro® Ellipta® is used for the treatment of COPD in adults.
  • Anoro® Ellipta®'s major benefit is that it only needs to be used once daily

  • Anoro® Ellipta® is supplied as a disposable light grey and red plastic inhaler containing 2 double-foil strips, each with 30 blisters. The inhaler should be stored inside the unopened moisture- protective foil tray and only removed from the tray immediately before using for the first time. Discard the inhaler 6 weeks after opening the foil tray or when the counter reads zero (after all blisters have been used), whichever comes first.
  • Peel back the foil to open the tray. Discard the dessicant into the trash. Each time you open the inhaler cover fully a dose of medication is ready to be used. If you open and close the cover you will lose the dose. It is impossible to get 2 doses at one time. Do not open the cover until you are ready to use the inhaler and do not close the cover until you have finished using it.
  • To use: open the cover until you hear a click. The counter should go down a number. Do not shake. Fully exhale (not into the inhaler). Put lips around mouthpiece and take a long steady inhalation (not through the nose). Do not block the air vent with your fingers. Remove inhaler from mouth and hold breath for 3-4 seconds-as long as you comfortably can. Breath out fully and gently. You may not taste or feel the medication. Close cover.
