LungCheck: Asthma and COPD Risk Questionnaire
About the Opportunity
Researchers with the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute are inviting Canadian adults to complete an online questionnaire to help identify people who may be at risk of having undiagnosed asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The research team is studying whether early diagnosis and treatment of previously undiagnosed asthma or COPD can improve quality of life. Their earlier work found that some Canadians living with respiratory symptoms may have asthma or COPD that has not yet been diagnosed.
You may be eligible to complete the questionnaire if you:
- are 18 years of age or older; and
- currently have, or have had, respiratory symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing, increased sputum, or a prolonged cough in the past 6 months.
This opportunity is not intended for people who already have a diagnosis of asthma, COPD, or another lung disease, or for those who are currently taking a respiratory inhaler.
Participants will complete an online questionnaire from home. Those who are found to be at higher risk for asthma or COPD may be contacted by the local study team for further screening. This may include study visits, questionnaires, breathing tests, and follow-up phone calls.
