Future Leaders Take on Youth Vaping at the Saskatchewan Legislature

Submitted by sdriedger on 11 June 2026

Lung Saskatchewan was pleased to attend and support the Student Legislative Experience held on June 9 at the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly.

The event brought students together to learn about the legislative process while exploring a timely and important public health issue: youth vaping. Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to consider information, take part in discussion, develop comments, and share their perspectives on an issue affecting young people, families, schools, and communities across Saskatchewan.

Lung Saskatchewan was proud to be present as an advocate for lung health, youth prevention, and evidence-informed action to reduce the harms of vaping and nicotine use.

What stood out most was the quality of student participation. The students were thoughtful, talented, and engaged in their contributions. Their questions, reflections, and willingness to speak to the issue showed leadership well beyond the classroom. These young people are our future, and seeing them participate so meaningfully in the democratic process was both encouraging and exciting.

Youth vaping remains a serious concern in Saskatchewan. Through prevention, education, advocacy, and youth engagement, Lung Saskatchewan continues to work with partners to protect young people from nicotine addiction and support healthier communities.

Thank you to Hon. Todd Goudy, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, and to everyone involved in creating such a successful and impactful learning opportunity for students. A special thank you to Twyla and Danica for their seamless coordination and the tremendous attention to detail that helped bring the day together.

Lung Saskatchewan looks forward to continuing to support efforts that elevate youth voice, strengthen prevention, and advance lung health across Saskatchewan.
