Jim and Marjorie Burnett Bursary

Jim and Marjorie Burnett devoted their lives to improving the health and well-being of others. Although Jim and Marjorie are no longer with us, their legacy lives on in the lives they’ve touched, in the families they’ve helped, and in the enduring impact they’ve made on lung health in Saskatchewan.

Marjorie began her nursing career caring for patients with tuberculosis at the Fort Qu’Appelle Sanitarium, where her commitment to lung health first took root. Jim later devoted decades of volunteer leadership to Lung Saskatchewan and the Canadian Lung Association, helping advance lung health programs across the province and country.

In honour of their long time volunteer leadership with Lung Saskatchewan and the Lung Foundation of Saskatchewan, the Jim and Marjorie Burnett Bursary was established, ensuring their legacy continues to inspire future lung health professionals.

This bursary supports students pursuing careers in lung health — including respiratory therapy, nursing, physiotherapy, medicine, and public health. By supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals, the bursary helps ensure the work Jim and Marjorie cared so deeply about continues for years to come.

Funded by The Lung Foundation, Lung Saskatchewan, and donors who wish to contribute to this legacy.
