Pictured: Honourable Minister of Health Jim Reiter and Jennifer May, Vice President of Community Engagement, The Lung Association. The Lung Association, Saskatchewan hosted members of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan at a radon reception on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Saskatchewan Legislature. With Saskatchewan being a radon hotspot, it was the opportunity to educate the provincial leaders about the dangers of radon and what can be done to help protect Saskatchewan people against it. RADON is the second leading cause of LUNG CANCER. You can’t see, taste or smell radon. The only way to know how much radon is in a home is to TEST for it. Following presentations by The Lung Association, Take Action on Radon Saskatchewan Coalition partners and Health Canada, Honourable Jim Reiter, Minister of Health, proclaimed November as Radon Action month. Special guest Andrew Greene, Saskatchewan Roughrider Alumni and Tackle Radon Ambassador was also in attendance. This fall Andrew joined forces with an unlikely teammate, Adam Bighill from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. In football, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg are known for their competitive rivalry. Yet Adam and Andrew make a dynamic duo tackling radon in the two prairie provinces. “It doesn’t matter if you wear green or blue, when it comes to lung cancer prevention we are all on the same team,” says Greene. The ambassadors know how to protect their teammates on the football field, but they are challenging all residents to protect their families at home by testing for radon. Everyone that purchases a radon test kit from TackleRadon.ca by November 30, 2019 will be entered to WIN prizes. |
