Pictured: Dr. Mark Fenton, Jayda Miller, Jordan Miller and Hunter Sabet-Olfert Meet the Saskatchewan recipients of The 2018 Lung Association National Awards. This year there were four awards to be presented across Canada – The Patron’s Award, Distinguished Ambassador Award, Youth Award and The Heather Crowe Award. These four awards are presented every second year with recipients being selected by the National Awards Committee. We are thrilled that two of these award’s recipients, The Youth Award and The Heather Crowe Award, have been selected from Saskatchewan. Dr. Mark Fenton received the Heather Crowe Award for being an extraordinary advocate for lung health. Dr. Fenton has presented to the legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Human Services on organ donations, advocated for the continuation of the free loan program of Continuous Positive Air Pressure equipment to treat people with sleep apnea, and presented to MLAs on the importance of building a lung health strategy for the province. Congratulations Dr. Fenton and a heartfelt thank you for all you in support of those living with lung disease. Hunter Sabet-Olfert, Jordan Miller and Jayda Miller received the Youth Award for their part in 100 Kids Who Care YXE (Saskatoon) - a giving circle with a vision to teach and inspire youth to give back to the community they live in. Together this group presented to their peers on why The Lung Association makes a difference. The Lung Association was chosen by a majority vote as the charity of choice by the young voters resulting in a $1500 donation to the Lung Association. Thank you Jordan, Jayda and Hunter for engaging and motivating your peers to vote for lung health. Congratulations on your award. |
