As the season shifts into spring, many of us begin to notice changes in the air around us. It’s a good time for everyone to be mindful of lung health and daily care, especially for those living with asthma and allergies. This May, we’re proud to join Asthma Canada as an Asthma Awareness Month partner, helping raise awareness about asthma attacks, how to recognize them and what to do if they happen. Recognizing the signs of an asthma attack and responding quickly could save a life. Learn more at Asthma Canada. Today, we’re excited to share that something special is taking root. The Breathe & Bloom Garden is a beloved tradition with a fresh, digital twist. You can now send a free tulip to someone you care about, or grow your bouquet in support of lung health. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s a simple way to share kindness and help others breathe easier. Visit the garden and send your first tulip. Do you have your ticket yet? The Early Bird deadline for our Breathe Strong Raffle is coming up on Friday, May 8. The jackpot is now over $87,000 and prizes include a Churchill beluga whale adventure, Outskirts Music Festival tickets, a Canadian Tire camping package, and a Glamping Staycation. There is still time to enter before the deadline! This month, we’re proud to recognize two individuals who have received national awards for their contributions to respiratory health. Jaimie Peters has received the CRHP Distinction Award, and Dr. Donald Cockcroft has received the CTS Distinguished Achievement Award. May also brings World No Tobacco Day on May 31. If you’re looking for support to quit smoking, Lung Saskatchewan and our provincial partners have created the Quit Smoking Resource Database—a one-stop hub to help people find the right supports across Saskatchewan.
