"It all began in January 2020 with an accident that left me needing an X-ray. The doctors at the Emergency Department were concerned about my neck being fractured or broken. To be sure, they took an X-ray of my neck, which also showed parts of my lungs. The doctors saw something concerning in the X-ray results and asked for another X-ray of my chest to get a clearer look at my lungs. Little did I know that the procedure I was about to undergo would lead to a surprising discovery. I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis.

I simply wanted to be able to breathe. I was no longer able to work and wished I could ride my motorbike and do the things I enjoy. When I couldn’t breathe, it felt like I was underwater and needed to come up for air."

On Thursday, October 12, Lung Saskatchewan hosted its Fall Impact Luncheon to celebrate the extraordinary contributions of individuals and organizations to lung health in the province. 

Awards were presented in several categories, each representing a distinct aspect of the lung health cause.

Our Health Promotion team was recently in Rosetown, SK, where they conducted two community presentations on radon.

During these sessions, they covered topics such as radon testing, mitigation strategies, and the health risks associated with radon exposure, and also addressed questions from community members.

Meet Dr. Donna Goodridge, a nurse-turned-researcher who has dedicated her career to improving care for people with advanced chronic illnesses. With over 100 published papers and numerous awards, Dr. Goodridge’s work is shaping the future of respiratory health and her impact is undeniable.

Lung Saskatchewan is currently seeking a volunteer to join its dynamic provincial Board of Directors in the role of Treasurer.

Lung Saskatchewan works with a variety of communities in Saskatchewan and across Canada, investing in research, advocating for changes to protect lung health, and providing education and support to patients, caregivers, and health care professionals.
