November is Lung Month. There are many different aspects of lung health that require our attention.

Lung cancer kills more men and women than any other type of cancer. The second leading cause of lung cancer is the presence of radon gas in our homes.
- COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is the fourth leading cause of death in Canada and will soon be the third. COPD kills more women than breast cancer and kills more men than prostate cancer.

Asthma can affect 1-3 children per classroom. It is a leading cause of children’s hospitalizations.

Courses are offered by The Lung Association to train health care professionals how to educate their patients about COPD & asthma

Take Action on Radon!

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer. You can't see, smell or taste radon. The only way to know is to test your home!
November is radon awareness month.We are excited to be part of Take Action on Radon which is a network led by The Lung Association and Summerhill Impact with support from Health Canada.

30 Years of Being Smoke-Free!
October 19,2015 was a day for the Canadian history books as Justin Trudeau was elected the new Prime Minister of Canada. However, for Gord and Maureen Haddock that day was significant for entirely different reasons…30 reasons to be exact. Their family celebrated Gord’s 30th Anniversary of being Smoke-Free!
To honour his accomplishment, Gord’s wife Maureen shared his story with the world. She explains how Gord became addicted to smoking as a child and ultimately overcame his nicotine addiction with perseverance and support from his family. See Gord and Maureen’s full story
