Temporary Changes to SAIL Home Oxygen Program Renewal and New Start Processes

Saskatchewan Aids to Independent Living (SAIL) Home Oxygen Program: Temporary Changes to Renewal and New Start Processes

The SAIL Home Oxygen Program would like to notify healthcare professionals and Home Oxygen Suppliers of temporary changes to the SAIL Home Oxygen Program policies and procedures in response to the recent developments related to COVID 19.

Effective immediately, the SAIL Home Oxygen Program will be automatically extending coverage for four (4) months to those whose coverage has expired or is due for renewal. Home Oxygen program testing requirements will be waived on initial applications for six (6) months.

The Ministry has notified Home Oxygen suppliers that routine follow-up procedures will not be required by the Home Oxygen Program until further notice. Home Oxygen suppliers have indicated that basic operations such as installation procedures and after hours follow-up will remain in place.

The Drug Plan is also considering temporary measures to address health system challenges as it relates to Drug Plan benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic. This may include automatic extension to current Exception Drug Status (EDS) approvals and/or removal of certain requirements in EDS criteria for select drugs. We will notify health care providers with updates to the Saskatchewan Formulary website as these changes are implemented.
